CAPY alternative for Google Forms

CAPY: Form Choice Eliminator & Choice Limiter is one of the biggest choice eliminators in the Marketplace, with more than 8 million installs and a 4.8 rating. It has also moved to paid-only, and that's the most common complaint in its recent reviews. Here's how Audeza Choice Sync compares.

  • Email noticesWhen a choice reaches its limit
  • Google Drive accessAll your Google Sheets spreadsheets

CAPY details come from its Google Workspace Marketplace listing (description, pricing and permissions) and its public reviews, checked November 1, 2026.

The free tier is the issue

CAPY's listing shows "Free-of-charge trial" under pricing. In August 2026 one reviewer wrote that the free tier they used for team snack sign-ups no longer exists. An April 2026 review says the limits stopped working a day after the form went out, until they paid. CAPY works well for plenty of people, and its rating shows that. But if you run a few sign-ups a year, paying for a subscription is hard to justify.

Audeza Choice Sync is free for up to 3 linked questions per form, on as many forms as you like. A conference sign-up, a volunteer form or a workshop list usually needs one. Nothing switches off after a trial.

Choices from a sheet

In CAPY you type your choices into the form and set each limit inside the add-on. That's fine for five time slots. It gets slow with 40 workshop sessions, or when the list changes every term.

Here, the choices come from a Google Sheets column, and the limits from the column next to it. Add a row and the form gets a new choice at the next sync. Change a 12 to a 20 and that session opens 8 more places. Syncs run after every response, every hour, and when you click Sync.

Where CAPY is ahead

Switch in five minutes

  1. Put your choices in one column of a Google Sheet and their limits in the next column.
  2. Install Audeza Choice Sync, then open Add-ons (puzzle icon) > Audeza Choice Sync > Open in your form.
  3. Click Link, pick the question and the column, turn on the limit and pick the limit column. The preview shows the exact choices before you save.
  4. Turn off CAPY for that question so the two add-ons don't overwrite each other. Responses you already have still count.

Questions

Is the free plan a trial?

No. Audeza Choice Sync is free for 3 linked questions per form with no time limit, and limits, alerts and the run log are all included. Pro removes the question limit for $49 a year or $6 a month.

Do responses I already have count?

Yes. Every sync counts the responses in the form, so you can switch on a live form and the slots that are taken stay taken.

Can I set a different limit for each choice?

Yes. Put the limits in a column next to the choices, and point the add-on at that column. Rows without a number use the default limit.

Which question types work?

Dropdown, multiple choice and checkboxes take limits. Grid questions can be filled from a sheet, but limits don't apply to them.
