Why people leave Choice Eliminator Lite

Its own listing says it is "designed for light use only" and suggests dropdown questions for better reliability. The reviews tell the rest. The ones that come up again and again:

If you're stuck right now, our guide Choice Eliminator not working? goes through each fix.

How limits work here

Turn on Remove a choice once it has been picked enough times when you link the question. Each choice can be picked once by default. Change the default to any number, or point to a column that holds a limit per row: 1 for a conference slot, 12 for one workshop, 30 for another.

The add-on counts the responses in the form on every sync, so it never drifts. Delete a response and its slot opens again at the next sync. When every choice is taken, the question shows one placeholder choice, "All options are taken" by default, because Google Forms needs at least one.

Permissions

Choice Eliminator Lite asks to see, edit, create and delete all your Google Drive files and all your spreadsheets, and to send email as you. A school IT admin may block an add-on that asks for that much, and one reviewer said the permissions worried them.

Audeza Choice Sync uses Google's drive.file permission. It opens only the spreadsheet you pick in Google's file picker, and only the form it's open in. It doesn't copy your sheet values or responses to our servers. Details are in the privacy policy.

When Choice Eliminator Lite is enough

If it works on your form, you only need each choice picked once, and your admin is fine with its permissions, there's no reason to switch. It costs nothing to keep.

Switch in five minutes

  1. Copy the choices from your question into one column of a Google Sheet. Add a second column with a limit per row if slots have different sizes.
  2. Install Audeza Choice Sync, then open Add-ons (puzzle icon) > Audeza Choice Sync > Open in your form.
  3. Click Link, pick the question and the column, and turn on the limit. The preview shows the exact choices before you save.
  4. Turn off Choice Eliminator Lite for that question so the two don't overwrite each other.

Questions

Can I keep the responses I already have?

Yes. Audeza Choice Sync counts the responses already in the form, so slots that are taken stay taken when you switch.

Is Audeza Choice Sync free?

Free for 3 linked questions per form, with limits, alerts and the run log included. Pro removes the limit for $49 a year or $6 a month.

Can two people still get the same slot?

Only if they submit in the same moment. Google Forms doesn't lock a choice while someone is filling in the form, so no add-on that uses the normal form link can rule this out. The form updates a few seconds after each response.

Do respondents need to install anything?

No. Only the form owner installs the add-on. Respondents use the normal form link.
