Choice eliminator add-ons for Google Forms compared (2026)

Google Forms can't remove a choice once it's full, so dozens of add-ons do it for you. They look alike in the Marketplace, but they differ in price, where the limits live, and how much of your Google account they can open. Here are the main ones side by side.

A disclosure first: we make one of them, Audeza Choice Sync. It's the newest and smallest on this list. We've tried to describe the others from their own listings and reviews, and to say where they're the better pick.

Installs, ratings and permissions are from each add-on's Google Workspace Marketplace listing on November 1, 2026. Google doesn't verify reviews or ratings. "Drive access" is our summary of the permissions each listing shows.

Choice Eliminator Lite

The best known name, by Accemy & SW gApps, with more than 9 million installs. It removes options from multiple choice, dropdown and checkbox questions. Its own listing says it's designed for light use and may be unreliable when many people answer at once, and recommends dropdowns. Its 2.8 rating reflects that: reviewers report the Configure option missing, choices not being removed, and, since 2022, no way to let several people pick the same slot.

Pick it if you have a small, slow sign-up where each choice is picked once. If it's misbehaving, see Choice Eliminator not working or our Lite alternative page.

CAPY: Form Choice Eliminator & Choice Limiter

By AddonForge, with 8m+ installs and the most reviews here. You set a limit for each choice inside the add-on, and it removes the choice once full. It can show respondents a custom message, restore choices to start over, email you when a limit is reached, and make a QR code. Pricing is a free trial, then paid. Some recent reviews complain that the free tier went away, and one reviewer found the limiting stopped working until they paid.

Pick it if you type your choices directly in the form and want a popular, polished tool, and you're fine paying after the trial. More on our CAPY alternative page.

Form Choice Limiter

By Everest Web Deals, 6m+ installs. Limits are set per option inside the add-on, with email when a limit is reached, scheduled restores, bulk limits and a QR code. Its listing is unusually candid: if several people submit at once, a choice with a limit of 10 can get 11 responses, and renaming an option resets its limit. Everest points high-volume users to its separate Choice Eliminator for Google Forms, which uses its own form link to make limits exact.

Pick it if you want limits set by hand in the form and responsive support, which many reviews praise. See Form Choice Limiter alternative.

Form Field Range

Also by Everest Web Deals, 216k+ installs, listed as free. It's a Form Ranger-style populate tool: it fills multiple choice, dropdown and checkbox options from sheet columns, on submit or on a schedule. To remove full choices you build the logic yourself with formulas like COUNTIF in the sheet.

Pick it if you want a free populate tool and you're comfortable with formulas. Our guide to limiting responses per option shows the formulas. Comparison: Form Field Range alternative.

Dynamic Form Choices

By Skyfield, 3k+ installs, updated in late October 2026. Of the add-ons here, it works most like ours. It creates an options sheet per form (or uses one you open it from), with a Capacity column for limits and a Taken column it fills in. It can also close the whole form at a response limit or on a schedule. It asks only for the files it creates or the one you open, not your whole Drive. Free for 7 days, then paid.

Pick it if you like the sheet-as-dashboard approach and want form-level scheduling too. See Dynamic Form Choices alternative.

Form Ranger

By New Visions for Public Schools, free, and for years the standard way to fill a question from a sheet. It doesn't remove full choices itself. Teachers combine it with COUNTIF formulas to get there. Its listing asks for access to all your Drive files and spreadsheets, and reviewers report lists emptied without warning when the sheet changes.

Pick it if your lists change rarely and your admin allows it. If lists keep emptying, read Form Ranger not working, or compare on our Form Ranger alternative page.

Audeza Choice Sync (ours)

Launched in October 2026, 42 installs, no reviews yet. It fills dropdown, multiple choice, checkbox and grid questions from a sheet column and removes choices once they've been picked enough times: once each by default, or a limit per row from a column. Limits don't apply to grids. It recounts from the responses after every response, every hour and when you click Sync now, so a deleted response frees its slot.

Where it's different is failure handling: if a header is renamed or the column comes up empty, the question keeps its choices, the sidebar explains what broke, and you get an email. It opens only the spreadsheet you pick. Free for 3 linked questions per form with every feature; Pro is $49 a year or $6 a month; a whole domain is $199 a year.

Pick it if your choices live in a sheet, a broken list would cost you something, or your IT admin cares about permissions.

Questions

Is there a free choice eliminator for Google Forms?

Form Field Range is listed as free, and limits there come from sheet formulas. Choice Eliminator Lite lists no price. Audeza Choice Sync is free for 3 linked questions per form. CAPY, Form Choice Limiter and Dynamic Form Choices are paid after a free trial.

Which choice eliminator is the most reliable?

None can fully stop two people submitting the normal Google Forms link at the same moment. Form Choice Limiter's listing says a limit of 10 can end up with 11. According to that listing, Everest's separate Choice Eliminator for Google Forms avoids this by using its own form page, which drops some Google Forms features.

Why do the permissions matter?

An add-on that can open all your Drive files is more likely to be blocked by a school or company IT admin, and it's more to trust. Add-ons using drive.file can open only the files you pick.
